Chance Portraits
A method was devised for finding, at random, individuals to pose for “portraits”. An ad placed on Craigslist, the online site, "artist seeks ordinary people to pose" – there is no selection by the artist – whoever responds and shows up becomes the subject of the painting.
Chance Locations
For on site, "plein air painting", a map of Queens and Brooklyn was marked with gridded coordinates. Throwing numbered and lettered coins lead to a location on the map at which, over several sessions, a painting is completed.
